Passionate About Helping Others Heal &Thrive
A definition of health that resonates with me most comes from an Ayurveda Text: “a healthy person is one whose elements are balanced […] and one whom is established in oneself.” This kind of health is what a yoga practice promises. Wherever you’re coming from, however broken or deep your longing to heal, you can connect to that person you desire to meet the most — your true self. When I look at these picture I see the journey of me establishing myself in my body, establishing myself in the five elements and establishing my spirit in this life, which has been extremely challenging at times.
I began practicing yoga without knowing it was yoga. As a teenager to cope with chronic childhood trauma I started stretching and breathing alone in my room. This was incredibly powerful, innate and healing. Later during my graduate studies in Playwriting, I found out there was an entire ancient practice dedicated to enriching people's lives by connecting the breath and body -- yoga. Not only did I know that this practice was meant to be my path, but I very quickly felt the calling to teach this connection and practice to others.
At university I played basketball so I have always been very body conscious but yoga has provided a gentle and kind approach to physical activity. It also created a pathway toward healing and healthy living. After my initial yoga training in Austin with Dharma Yoga and deeper studies with Sacred Roots Yoga School, I studied yoga therapy with Swara Yoga in Tejukula, Bali. My latest training was an advance training with Melissa Spammer on various aspects of Anatomy, Ayurveda and the Yoga Sutras.
My childhood made me grow up emotionally faster than I would recommend. My mind was powerful enough to compartmentalise my trauma and do well in school and sports, but after the harsh discipline of basketball and excelled academic courses my mind and body slowly broke down. I needed a softer discipline to unravel my experiences and find myself. This is why I say often, yoga saved my life.
The aim of my teaching, guided-healing and mentoring is for every person to connect with themselves and their natural elements so they do not feel alone or wrong in this world. I'm absolutely in love with my work, and I have a hunger to continue to learn this never-ending practice as well as continue growing what and how I teach.
May we all become more established in our bodies, our lives and our truth. May we all establish health, bliss & freedom!
